To make this song sound good on an acoustic, you can't stop hitting the strings. It's a constant repetitive rhythm that you have to beat out. This is accomplished more easily without a pick. And you have to use an alternate tuning. I put in parentheses the rough number of times to hit each chord. "Ramble On", by Led Zeppelin ____________________________ Tuning (low to high) : E B D G B B --yes, the last two strings are the same 'B'. This thickens up the sound a bit. Intro : (x4) (x3) (x3) (x15) B------9----7------5--------5-------5----5---- B------9----7------5--------5-------5----5---- G------9----7------7--------6------6h7---6---- D------9----7------7--------7-------7----7---- B---------------------------5-------5----5---- E--------------------------------------------- Riff 1 : (x4) (x3) (x15) B------1--/--9-----7-------5------5--------5----0---- B------1--/--9-----7-------5------5--------5----0---- G------1--/--9-----7-------7------6-------6h7---0---- D------1--/--9-----7-------7------7--------7----0---- B------0-----0-----0-------0------5--------5----0---- E------0-----0-----0--------------5--------5----0---- Riff 2, "Ahhhh... sometimes I grow so tired..." : (x3) (x4) (x3) (x4) B-----0h9----x----2-------4h7------5----x-----9------0--- B-----0h9----x----2-------4h7------5----x-----9------0--- G-----0h9----x----3--------4-------6----x----10------1--- D-----0h9----x----4--------4-------7----x----11------2--- B------0-----x----2--------4-------5----x-----9------0--- E------0-----x----2--------4-------5----x-----9------0--- If you can play this, the rest is easy to figure out. It's a very simple song. Good Luck! transcription by Tom Paquin ---
